- Week Long Musicians's Courses at a Defence Facility where participants will rehearse both marching and concert band skills.
- Ceremonial Events such as Anzac Day
- Parades such as Wing Promotion Course Graduation Parades, Freedom of Entry Parades, as well as other events as requested
Cadets with minimal music training are also encouraged to join the AAFC music program, with the Drum Corps offering a chance to learn how to play drums as part of a Drum Corps, and take part in one of the oldest military traditions.
Musician Vacancies
All of the AAFC musical units are open to new members from both Cadets and Staff.
The AAFC Bands are open to any woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Unfortunately there is limited availability for string players or pianists, but we still encourage you to reach out to see if there is a way you can be involved.
Interested musicians must have basic skills on their chosen instrument, and an ability to read music.
The AAFC Drum Corps are welcoming to any cadet or staff member with a desire to learn drumming. Unlike the bands, there is no pre-requisites to join a Drum Corps as all the training is provided within the Drum Corps
Both Bands and Drum Corps hold a number of courses throughout the year to refine musical skills.
Band Insignia
Members of the AAFC Musical Units may be eligible to wear the AAFC Musicians Badge on their AFB uniform. To qualify for this badge, you must attend 75% of all Wing Musical Unit events within a 12 month period.
