QUEEN’S BATON RELAY – Commonwealth Games 2018
Public and ceremonial events like this are no stranger to LACW(AAFC) Liz Gardner of No. 617 Squadron – Netherby, who was recently nominated to be one of the Baton Bearers for The Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games as the Baton made its way through the town of Hahndorf, SA.
Serving as a Leading Aircraftwoman (AAFC) since August 2017, after a year as a civilian instructor and following on from a seven year career as a cadet where she achieved the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.
The Queen’s Baton has been making its way through the Commonwealth since leaving Buckingham Palace on 13 March last year. This tradition continued in Hahndorf (Day 58) where the relay ran down the Main Street, finishing with a special celebration in Pioneer Park Gardens.
Congratulations to Liz – a great ambassador for the Commonwealth Games and also the Australian Air Force Cadets!!
