2023 National Rife Competition
For the first time since 2019, Cadets from around the country recently came together in New South Wales to participate in the 2023 National Rifle Competition (NRC23).
The NRC23 put both Wing teams and individuals to the test using the CZ452 rifle on the 25m range at RAAF Base Richmond, with the opportunity to walk away with some serious silverware.
This year’s competition included the inaugural presentation of the GPCAPT(AAFC) Colin Palmer Memorial Trophy which was awarded, in addition to the Air Force Association Trophy, to the winning team on the day.
Congratulations to the team from 4 Wing (VIC) who walked away with the trophy!
1st Place: 4 Wing (VIC) with 2,137 out of a possible 2,400 points!
2nd Place: 3 Wing (NSW & ACT) with 2,049 pts
3rd Place: 7 Wing (WA) with 1,979 pts.
In addition, the Commanders Prize was awarded to the Cadet with the highest personal score!
The 2023 individual competition was extremely robust with only 5 points separating first and third places.
1st Place: CFSGT Porter, 4 Wing (VIC)
2nd Place (tied): CWOFF Ah Loy, 1 Wing (Nth QLD) and CWOFF Howland, 4 Wing (VIC)
3rd Place: CWOFF Lunau, No 3Wing (NSW & ACT).
Further highlighting the quality of training achieved by the cadets, 13 participants were awarded their crossed rifles signifying the achievement of a marksmanship score of 85% or better.
This was the first time that the competition has been held since the lockdowns, so it was extremely encouraging to see such a high-level of performance from all participants.
Congratulations to all of our cadet competitors and special thanks to all the support staff and coaches that enabled this exciting competition to go ahead.
