Australia Air Cadets Alumni Magazine Aug 2022
We hope you enjoy your August Newsletter My sincere thanks to those who have taken the time to provide material and feedback. We have a couple of regular readers who help with spotting material that may interest one or two of our alumni. I must admit, I borrow some of the great material from the AAFC web page and Facebook sites. The AAFC pages are certainly improving and are providing some great material. Now that our alumni newsletter is accessible to all those who use the AAFC site it is up to our alumni to show them how we enjoyed our time as a Cadet and what we did after cadets.
Do you think it might be time for you to give something back to our Cadets? The AAFC is looking for Staff members but not only that, the AAFC would like to hear from you to share your life skills in your chosen profession. You might like to make contact with a local Squadron in your area. Do you have industry experience? I know personally where current serving members have made a presentation to cadets letting them know of the life in the services, not just what comes down from Defence Force Recruiting. I have personally experienced several of these contacts and you would be amazed at the calibre of questions that come from cadets. From one of these presenters who regularly travelled with recruiters talking about ADFA opportunities, the officer told me that the questions asked by the cadets were far better than any coming from parents at a formal DFR presentation.
Your feedback helps to shape the content we include in each edition so please keep it coming. So, why not share your knowledge and experience with other Alumni members? We look forward to your contribution.
In the May Newsletter I mentioned that some of the Squadrons have set the bar high Paul Gregory
August 2022
took up that challenge and has highlighted a couple of those squadrons and put some names to that comment. You might like to add some more of our high achievers.
Remember, if you like what you read in your magazine, you are most welcome to share and invite your friends who are ex Cadet or Staff members to join. If you don’t like what you are reading please tell us, AlumniDirector@airforcecadets.gov.au We love to receive your letters. We hope that our magazine can remind you of your time in our great organization. We are always on the lookout for articles and photographs that you may like to share.
If you think you have missed out on some of the earlier Alumni Newsletters, the good news is you haven’t! They are available on the Air Cadets Alumni website, AAFC Web page, https://www.airforcecadets.gov.au/ and go to the Bulletin Board.
We need material that can be circulated to those who are no longer in touch with their old Squadron or in receipt of material from the AAFC. I am aware that the Newsletter is rather large and many readers would like me to cut back on the length. I certainly don’t anticipate that you will read the entire magazine, I know I don’t read the entire copy of The Australian, but I scan the paper and read what interests me.
We have an Interactive Contents Page. To access any article that you would be interested in, hit Control and Left Click on the Mouse and you will go direct to your selected article. You don’t need to scroll through material that doesn’t interest you.
Until November,
Fly Safe and stay Covid Safe.
