What does BDA do?
Boeing's presence in Australia is the company’s largest footprint outside the United States, with more than 3,000 employees in 38 locations. Boeing has the broadest portfolio in Australian aerospace, with its employees and an extensive supply chain supporting our advanced manufacturing of commercial aircraft composite components, defence systems design and development, modeling and simulation, research and development, support and training, and unmanned systems.
BDA provides support for Boeing aircraft, including Wedgetail E-7A, the F-18F, the EA-18G, and the C-17.
What activities can BDA offer AAFC units?
BDA is open to considering any request for a visit providing timing can be mutually agreed. The activity is open to negotiation, but will generally include some or all of the following depending on location and facilities available:
- Met on arrival at the facility and introduction to operations at the locality
- Familiarisation with the aerospace support work being undertaken at the site
- Personal experience by a younger BDA staff member on what it is like to work in BDA and similar companies
- A hands on activity related to the operations at that facility
- Overview of broader career opportunities in BDA and entry requirements
- A short introduction to one or more BDA members in location who were Air Force Cadets (if available)
- Provide some education materials on BDA
Where can BDA offer the activities?
BDA’s key sites are in South-East Queensland (RAAF Amberley), with other sites at Williamtown and Nowra. BDA speaker(s) could potentially attend a Cadet Unit in Brisbane, Newcastle or Nowra. Potentially a speaker could be arranged for Canberra or Sydney. BDA staff have previously provided Webinars for the AAFC.
