Our History
No. 4 Flight NSW Squadron Air Training Corps (AIRTC) was created on 20 June 1946. It was previously No.1 Flight of 48 Squadron AIRTC, which was started on 21 July 1942 at the Sydney Church of England Grammar School (Shore School) in North Sydney. This war time establishment was created purely to train young men (<18 years) in preparation for service in the RAAF during World War II. The post-war establishment was created for a peace time role, with objectives loosely along the lines of our current aims.
In 2010, the Squadron relocated from Shore School to our current facilities at Pymble to provide greater support and access to the young people of the North Shore region of Sydney. Since then, the unit has experienced significant growth to over 100 cadets regularly parading, making the Squadron one of the largest in No. 3 Wing (NSW/ACT).
