Recruiting information
322 Squadron conducts a single recruit intake each year. Due to overwhelming demand, our recruiting for 2025 has now closed. Our next available recruit intake will occur in February 2026, with expressions of interest expected to open in early October 2025.
There are three steps to join 322SQN:
1. Submit an expression of interest, and complete a recruit application
2. Attend our Recruit Orientation Day
3. Attend our Recruit Course & Kitting Weekend
Expression of interest (EOI) - October
To register your interest for the next Recruit Course, submit an EOI by clicking the "JOIN SQUADRON" button above. Please note, if you cannot see the "JOIN SQUADRON" button then the system is currently not open to accept EOIs - you may need to try again closer to the next available recruit intake.
After submitting your EOI, initial checks will be conducted to confirm your eligibility, and availability within our next recruit intake. Please wait to be invited to submit an application, which may not occur until closer to the next recruit intake.
Recruit Orientation Day - November
Our Recruit Orientation Day aims to give you a taste of what we do in the AAFC. It is conducted on a Saturday in November the year before you wish to join (e.g. Recruit Orientation Day held in November 2025 for enrolment in February 2026). Attendance at the full day by prospective recruits is required, to ensure they meet the established training objectives. The Recruit Orientation Day commences with an information session for prospective recruits and parents/guardians where you will receive all the essential information about the AAFC and 322SQN, and enrolment formalities will be finalised. You will then get to know your new course mates and commence your Recruit Stage training in a variety of subjects including fieldcraft, service knowledge, aerospace skills, and drill and ceremonial.
There is no cost to attend the Recruit Orientation Day and if you decide the AAFC is not for you then you are under no obligation to join. If you decide you do wish to join, then subject to availability of places you will be invited to confirm if you wish to continue with your application to join as a cadet. You would then commence attending Wednesday parade nights at the start of the new school year on a provisional basis.
Recruit Course & Kitting Weekend - February/March
During your first term of enrolment you will attend a Recruit Course to complete your initial training. The Recruit Course is conducted over a Saturday and Sunday (no overnight stay) and attendance at the full two days is required. During this weekend you will also be issued with your uniforms, making you a fully fledged member of the AAFC!
