340 Squadron became an operational Squadon of 3 Wing on the 29 April 2016, where 25 new cadets enlist into the Squadron.
On the 6 August 2016, 340 Squadron and 332 (City of Wagga) Squadron marched as a formed body as part of the Griffith 100th Birthday Celebrations. This was the first time in approximately 41 years that a formed body had marched in Griffith since the disbanding of the Griffith High School Army Cadets in 1975.
The Squadron Banner was presented to the inaugural Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant (AAFC) Michael Borg at centenary of Griffith in August 2016
The Squadron celebrated it's 5th Birthday on the 1st May 2021. A Dining-in-Night was held to celebrate this mildstone and Griffith City Council bestowed the Freedom of Entry to the City of Griffith.
340 SQN is now known as 340 (City of Griffith) Squadron. We are extremely proud of who we are and what we do within our community.
