More Information
714 SQN can trace its original history back to 14 Flight Air Training Corps which was founded in 1956 at the Wright Street Headquarters in Highgate and was the initial training Flight for all new recruits. After their training, cadets were sent out to the other various units.
14 Flight was relocated several times during its history, having been situated in Highgate, Claremont, Leederville and Karrakatta where the unit parades today.
Flight Lieutenant Pat Markham was a former RAAF Pilot and 14 Flight’s first official Officer Commanding.
In 2001, 14 Flight was renamed to 714 Squadron, Australian Air Force Cadets, a member-squadron of 7 Wing, in accordance with the national restructure of the organisation.
714 Squadron is one of the older AAFC units in Western Australia, has always been a good performer in the Wing and always adheres to the Squadron Motto of “Highest Standard”
Wing
