Originally founded in Benalla during November 1941 as part of the Empire Training Scheme, 420 was the Headquarters Squadron for a much larger area which took in Seymour, Shepparton and Wangaratta areas, and was to supply over 100 trained personnel for the RAAF. Since then we have changed from a strictly military organisation to one of Youth Development. The Squadron has now existed for over 75 years in one form or another as the cadets have grown and developed so have we as a squadron, we look forward to our next 75 years.
