More Information
413 SQN was established in 2012 and had its first recruit intake in April that year. We currently have over 60 cadets enroled from the surrounding areas of Warrnambool City Council, Moyne Shire and Corangamite Shire and conduct recruit intakes during Terms One and Three each year. We are a community-based Squadron with very strong ties with community, service and youth development groups.
We operate out of a Multi User Depot (MUD) at Tel el Eisa Barracks in Warrnambool and parade on Thursday nights during school terms from 18:30 – 21:30.
The dedicated staff and enthusiastic cadets of 413 Squadron are a true testament to the positive aspects that Australian Air Force Cadets brings to the lives of our youth. To get the most out of the program we encourage our cadets to take every opportunity to attend the activities we have on offer.
These activities include: bivouacs (camping), flights and flying training, the Firearms Training Elective and range shooting, (using .22 calibre rifles at approved ranges), combined recruit training weekends, cadet aviation experiences, pilot experience flights, promotional courses, social activities, Dining In nights, Final Parades and local ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and Remembrance Day ceremonial services.
There are also a number of activities held at a Wing (state) level that cadets are able to attend. These include (but are not limited to): GST (General Service Training) and LCDT (Leading Cadet) camps at RAAF bases, promotion courses, Wing competitions, adventuring training camps, Wing bivouacs and the Annual Parade. It is through these activities that cadets experience life on base and explore the various jobs that are performed there; cadets eat in the Airmen’s Mess and get a glimpse of what life in the Defence Force is all about.
There are many other opportunities to gain knowledge, further your cadet career and gain confidence in yourself and your abilities including scholarships available to cadets including but not limited to RAAF sponsored Powered and Gliding scholarships and the RSL Cadet of the Year.
Upon enrolment we invite parents and cadets to join our closed group Facebook page: 413 SQN Australian Air Force Cadets - Warrnambool, where you can keep up to date with planned activities and news.
For all enrolment queries please contact PLTOFF(AAFC) Jane McDonald on 0409 240 866.
