More Information
** 346 Squadron has reached its maximum EOI for commencement in 2025. **
346 Squadron is the fourth Australian Air Force Cadets squadron in the Australian Capital Territory and commenced parading in 2023. The Squadron parades on Thursday nights (during the ACT school term) between 1830-2115h at HMAS Harman (situated on Canberra Ave, ACT).
346 Squadron conducts one recruit intake per year at the start of each calendar year. Expressions of interest open in October in the year prior to commencement. Cadets get experience and opportunities in a wide variety of activites; including aviation, service knowledge, team building, drill, personal development, fieldcraft, survival, rifle shooting, cyber/coding, drones, and several other subjects. For specific joining requirements, please review the "Requirements to become a cadet" in How to Join | Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC).
In addition to our regular Thursday night training parades during ACT school terms, we also run a wide variety of weekend activities. These include gliding weekends, firearms training and live firing exercises, and bivouacs. Our cadets also have the opportunity to attend Wing camps and courses, such as powered and glider flying training, and Personal Development and Leadership courses during school holidays. Many of these holiday camps and courses are conducted at Defence bases throughout New South Wales.
During their time at 346 Squadron, cadets will experience a range of activities and opportunities that are beneficial to themselves now and into the future. In particular, cadets will often be given the opportunity to manage a project, take on a particular role, or even teach a class of their peers.
