324 Squadron has had a surge of Expressions of Interest and currently utilises a waitlist. EOI's may be declined due to nil vaccancies however will be added to the waitlist for any last minute vaccancies or for the following years intake.
Number 324 (City of Randwick) Squadron began its life as No.24 Flight, New South Wales Squadron, Air Training Corps which was formed at Cleveland Street High School on 15th November 1954.
In 1983, 24FLT NSWSQN, AIRTC absorbed No.1 Flight, previously based at Christian Brothers School, Lewisham,
The unit was awarded the title "City of Sydney" in 1989, 24FLT was presented with a unit banner by the Lord Mayor of Sydney in 1991.
In 2001, the Air Training Corps underwent a significant restructuring process and gave rise to the Australian Air Force Cadets. At the same time, 24FLT became No. 324(City of Sydney) Squadron.
Upon relocating to Randwick Army Barracks in 2002, the unit adopted the title of Number 324 (City of Randwick) Squadron by which it is still known today.
324 (City of Randwick) Squadron holds the rare honour of having held "City of' titles by two separate cities during its life.
The unit badge of Number 324 (City of Randwick) Squadron retains the crown and anchor symbol from its time in the Sydney CBD. The squadron maintains a proud connection to the City of Sydney while also being an active part of the Randwick community, whose corporate logo was incorporated into the badge design which is the land, beach and water colours behind the anchor symbol.
